quick question...

which should I choose?

this one?    or    maybe this one, in gray

im probably gonna do either a light purple and dark grey bedroom or a light grey ad dark purple.... depending on the comforter...

Monday, July 12

I often find myself watching these shows where they make rooms over to "lift your mood." Which, lately, has me wondering if they work. ...

would I be brilliantly happy if my bathroom looked like this:
the answer, is most likely not. I can't help but have an undying urge to redecorate. Whever life gets difficult or I get stressed out or really anything "changes," the urge to redecorate attacks. I've managed to keep the same bed comforter and pillow cases since I was in college. I got them from Target and I love the rich purple and how comfy they are. I adore them. However, lately, I've gotten the urge to upgrade to a larger bed, and to  because, it looks so luxurious and magical. I think it's a girl thing...I spent some time Sunday night with Brooke, Valerie and BJ (plus baby monkey) at Target and of course the three girls spent WAY to much time staring at the lovely bed, bath and kitchen decor, because it's what we do..then we stared at wall art. After that, I went and helped a friend paint her bedroom. I've thought about painting and calling it a day, but I'm ready to leave this apartment and I dont feel like putting the effort into painting, just to primer over it in a month or two.

Who knows, maybe I'm missing a huge chunk of happiness, but, well, I cant afford to redecorate everytime I get the blues.

Wherein I continue to fail at blogging.

I suppose this is an attempt (to pacify my mom's desire to constant peeks into my psyche) to get back to my blog. On my list of things to do, I managed to get a new tattoo...but I want it perfect before I post it up on the blog, an it's still healing.

I suppose it's a half-a** attempt at I'm only flying out to OKC by myself. I'm being picked up and driving back to NC with a friend, so no big there. However, it is my first flight by myself. I printed the ticket (again..this makes 3 copies) and will be on a flight at 4:45EST. I have a layover in Detroit. Exciting-ish.

Today marks a big change for me. I'm leaving my current position as an assistant chemist, and moving to a job at NCSU as a Research Technician Advanced. (my  mom seems quite enthralled with my title, and can't wait to start bragging..which amuses me greatly. I feel like I'm accomplished now. She's proud) It's also the end of some relationship drama that has been years in the making and years in the finishing.

I solemnly swear I will do my best to download an app for my phone to make my blogging more adventerous. Though, I did promise my mom I would keep a journal of the next few days to be able to read back on and see my insane state. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and make it public when it's done.

Fail Blog

Yes, I fail at blogging every day. F A I L.

I will try to put more stuff on my tumblr.    CLICK ME HERE NOW

The past few weeks have been highs. I'll do my best to recap things shortly? Hopefully.

Sunday, May 16

In addition to being a good beginning on my "post something i've photographed each day," on my 101 list, this picture seems to be a driving force lately.

I've decided its time to a change. I'm looking around, letting things swirl through my head. It's nerve wrecking, exciting, and I don't know where it'll go.

Today was a lazy day. I read alot. Thought, alot, and decided to actually make the changes I've been needed.

We'll see.

Day 1.

image via

Today was my first day without caffeine. I had a sprite with lunch, but all water other than that. No chocolate, not even a painkiller with caffeine. I got a  massive headache on the way to dinner, I think perhaps I scared Ted a bit with my bowling over. Tomorrow is the official start of Lent, but I had a very good reason to start today. More on that shortly, but I think I did pretty good today.
Why, you ask, did I start my no caffeine today?

Well...Because TOMORROW, I start the paleodiet. What is this crazy diet? It's basically the food pyramid to the left. LOTS of fresh fruit and veggies, some protein, and a very small bit of butter/bread/potatos/carbs, etc. I've been getting some mixed reviews from it, some definite negative nellies, but I'm still excited about it. I plan to use this blog to keep up with what I've made/how far I've gotten, etc.

I'm looking forward to the challenge. It sounds interesting, get most of your calories from veggies, meats and eggs, not from processed "new foods. Only things cavemen could eat on their hunter/gather-er lifestyles. Fish..yes!, Diet :( I definitely plan on having some

wiggle room, as I firmly believe that a "diet" is killer. The second I deprive myself of anything, is the second I don't change how I view food or how I live, but instead begin a yo-yo of weight loss and healthy-ness, which is NOT what I want to do. Wish me luck, leave me hints, etc.

Another added bonus of this week, and my new found drive to be healthy..I start crossfit on Thursday, with a full "start" on Monday. Crossfit is a workout that I've watched friends of mine do for years. They all seemed to love it, and everyone I know who goes, falls madly in love. I'm intrigued by it, because it's 30-45miutes of "the most intense workout" which leaves you feeling like your heart will explode and your stomach will jump out of your throat..apparently, (Again, I'll keep you updated on it all as I go.) It turns out that it is a VERY small world. There is a girl in Fayetteville that I went to NCSSM with, that is also a complete crossfit convert. After a few messages back and forth, she not only offered me her number and gave me all the details on how to get started, but made me feel perfectly welcome. perhaps I'll end up making a new set of friends in Fayetteville as well...

On that note...g'nite

I'm all about a good bribe

The Apple curse has struck again. I am quickly becoming a mac-fiend. Ted has the new iPod shuffle (as seen - above) and, I must admit, I want it. Perhaps I only want it because it's a new toy and someone else has it, or maybe not.

I'm all about bribing myself, so here's the deal. I started running/jogging yesturday, and if I can do it at least 5 days a week, for an entire month (so, until St. Patricks Day) I can buy myself a new shiny iPod shuffle with little to no remorse. I'm looking forward to the idea.

not the matchbox20 song

Not long ago, Ted made his facebook status, "this too shall pass" and, of course, I assumed it was some hardship or bad event at work. After I asked him about it, he had me listed to Ajahn Brahm- a Buddhist Monk that Ted listens too. I particularly like him because he a) has a background in theoretical physics from Cambridge, and b) in his lectures/talks he seems to take the long way around, with several tangents and jokes and stories, and it keeps my attention.

On this day, this particular talk was about how all things are impermanent. I'll spare you the long details, because I don't want to get anything incorrect or mislead you, but the overall jist was just that all things will pass, everything is cyclical. While the bad times will eventually go away (which is normally when people tell you that "this too shall pass") and you can be relieved that it has to eventually get better, when the times are great, you must remember that this too shall pass.

Oddly enough, I can't get the phrase/idea out of my mind. If you prepare, when things are great, for when they aren't so great, maybe they won't be so bad, and you can get out of the valley faster.

Please forgive iPhone quality
40,000 volts running through a vacuum seal, should turn your bottle purple. If so, SUCCESS! Continue on to the busiest day of your LIFE, if not...tell mr. boss man. It still made for a very pretty picture. However, the rest of the day, has been forgotten.

Body Building

T and I went to Sams the other day, and the cashier girl (who also asked me if I was an art dealer, and babbled for a while..about random...junk?) asked T if he was a body builder. He said no, and after she demonstrated the way he walks (which was actually very acurate), T had a confusing afternoon of trying to convince me he DID NOT walk like a body builder, and stand like one. After this however, he put on a tanktop/muscle shirt thing, and layed around on the couch like this....
If I am not alive after this posting, he probably killed me for it. ;-), but I rest my case.

Must Must!

I really must start writing more. Perhaps if I make myself type the blogs, I can make myself add the fun pictures in later once I get home. I love reading blogs. A highschool classmate runs her own ( and I absolutely adore it. I don't know if anyone would ever actually READ my blogs (perhaps this is what tagging is for?) but I'd like the memory. I quite like the idea of my own place in the interwebs.
