not the matchbox20 song

Not long ago, Ted made his facebook status, "this too shall pass" and, of course, I assumed it was some hardship or bad event at work. After I asked him about it, he had me listed to Ajahn Brahm- http://www.ajahnbrahm.org/- a Buddhist Monk that Ted listens too. I particularly like him because he a) has a background in theoretical physics from Cambridge, and b) in his lectures/talks he seems to take the long way around, with several tangents and jokes and stories, and it keeps my attention.

On this day, this particular talk was about how all things are impermanent. I'll spare you the long details, because I don't want to get anything incorrect or mislead you, but the overall jist was just that all things will pass, everything is cyclical. While the bad times will eventually go away (which is normally when people tell you that "this too shall pass") and you can be relieved that it has to eventually get better, when the times are great, you must remember that this too shall pass.

Oddly enough, I can't get the phrase/idea out of my mind. If you prepare, when things are great, for when they aren't so great, maybe they won't be so bad, and you can get out of the valley faster.

40,000 volts running through a vacuum seal, should turn your bottle purple. If so, SUCCESS! Continue on to the busiest day of your LIFE, if not...tell mr. boss man. It still made for a very pretty picture. However, the rest of the day, has been forgotten.

Body Building

T and I went to Sams the other day, and the cashier girl (who also asked me if I was an art dealer, and babbled for a while..about random...junk?) asked T if he was a body builder. He said no, and after she demonstrated the way he walks (which was actually very acurate), T had a confusing afternoon of trying to convince me he DID NOT walk like a body builder, and stand like one. After this however, he put on a tanktop/muscle shirt thing, and layed around on the couch like this....
If I am not alive after this posting, he probably killed me for it. ;-), but I rest my case.

Eric Miller: MADD Police Hero of the Year 2009. I'm proud. :D

He met up with me after his awards banquet Saturday, and while it was a very eventful visit. It was quite nice as well...

Adventures...

My office flooded, nasty backed up toilet water. It was nasty. But eventful. Always eventful.

Must Must!

I really must start writing more. Perhaps if I make myself type the blogs, I can make myself add the fun pictures in later once I get home. I love reading blogs. A highschool classmate runs her own (dashpinchsmidgen.blogspot.com) and I absolutely adore it. I don't know if anyone would ever actually READ my blogs (perhaps this is what tagging is for?) but I'd like the memory. I quite like the idea of my own place in the interwebs.
